Deirdre Fitzpatrick took us on a lovely Thursday evening walk from Kilfinane last Thursday evening. Departing the Main Street the group were led on a two and a half hour loop walk around the environs of the town returning us back to the start in daylight, and well exercised from the walk.
The Beginners walk on Saturday took us on to the Coillte track at Glenanaar that leads on to the Long Mountain, but instead of proceeding in the direction of the Long Mountain we continued straight…

thanks for putting up the article on Matterhorn. It was strange when I googled Matterhorn one night and found an article on two lads who had successfully summited lately. What a surprise when I read on to find one of them was myself. It was one mighty experience and one I wont forget ever. Its always great being a "Bear but to be a "Bear who got the opportunity to scratch his arse on a rock on top of the Matterhorn was something special. Thanks for your great work for the club over the years.Denis O Brien

Sounds like you are well able to walk anyway if you have done 100 mile walks :-). You might be interested in our St. Stephens Day walk. It's 14 miles and everyone does it at their own pace. Usually there's a very good turn out for it (definitely 60 or more participants). It's a good way to work off the over indulgences of Christmas Day and to meet people in the club.
