Mountain Meitheal South East ("MMSE") next Work Day is April 22 (next Sunday) where we will be continuing our work on the Galty Castle/King's Yard track, South Side of the Galtees (Exit 12 off the M8). Our meeting place will be Kilbehenny Community Centre at 1015am sharp.
Great progress has been made on the track during the last two (2) Work Days – a big thank you to everyone who contributed. Also, we had an excellent turnout at the Mountaineering Ireland Spring Meet which was held in the Glen of Aherlow. Members at the meet and potential new members from Galway, Mayo and Clare visited MMSE team on their Work Day on 24 March. They saw for themselves the work carried out, the tools and training techniques.
A clean-up day was held last Saturday from Kingsyard to beyond Galtycastle organised by Moss Fitzgerald, Kilbehenny in conjunction with MMSE. Two full trailer loads and many bags were removed …. and there’s still plenty rubbish around … for another day!
Also attached is our Work Schedule for the year.
Come prepared for a day in the hills, be prepared for all weathers, for safety and comfort wear appropriate footwear. A packed lunch is advisable, including a hot drink. A change of clothes is recommended for the homeward journey. Bring gardening gloves if you have them; otherwise they will be supplied. For this track we would also recommend you bring a pair of wellingtons as it is rather muddy!
